REGARDING YOUR QUESTION, IT IS CERTAINLY POSSIBLE THAT THERE IS A SEPARATION BETWEEN NEURONS INVOLVED IN SENSORY FUNCTIONS (COLLECTING DATA) AND THOSE INVOLVED IN CONTROL FUNCTIONS (DECISION MAKING). HOWEVER, WITHIN ATTENTIONAL NETWORKS (E.G. THE POSTERIOR PARIETAL LOBE) EVEN INDIVIDUAL NEURONS SEEM TO BE BOTH VISUALLY SENSITIVE AND INVOLVED IN ATTENTIONAL CONTROL FUNCTIONS. THE IMAGING METHODS SUGGEST THAT THESE FUNCTIONS MAY LIE WITHIN THE SAME BRAIN
AREAS.
